When Your Youngest Graduates High School, pt 1 (May 2025)

Tomorrow, my youngest graduates HS and I am wrapped in all the feels, as they say. I have been talking to anyone and everyone about this upcoming transition since September and I am so glad I did...

First, Congratulations to Elijah on graduating high school.   Elijah will be attending Rivier University on a Div 3 basketball scholarship. This is no small accomplishment and I am extremely proud of his constant work at his craft. Second, THANK YOU to every single person who has been a part of my parenting journey for 22 years. I 100% mean it when I say, "I couldn't do it (this well) without you all". It takes a village is cliche until you realize the village is right there if you see it and reach out into it. I have reached over and over again and everyone reached back. I am humbled and grateful. Third, this new nest of my husband and I (all the pets too) will be a first for us. We came to our relationship each with a child and then Elijah soon after. It has never been a nest of just us two. So this truly is a rebuild of home and who we are. I know I will be reaching again into the village as this next phase begins. I already have and so many of you have reached back. Please share your thoughts, your wisdom, your experiences with me if you have done this nesting already. And forgive my tears as a huge part of me is grieving this chapter in my life being over. Basketball Mom, mom to my Emerson College student, and step-mom to my beautiful Maxime is remodeling. Stay tuned.
